One Day Closer to Death
These 5 words made 2016 one of the most successful years of my life.
Every morning I wake up and I reflect on the fact that I woke up one day closer to death. That day could be today, 8 years, or hopefully 70 years from now. But these 5 words are the first thing I reflect upon each morning. We all need to make peace with the fact we’re one day closer to death. Accept this fact and you’ll never waste another day.
This is my reminder to get after it – today.
This is my reminder to build a legacy – today
This is my reminder to make a difference – today
This is my reminder to chase my dreams – today
“Do not act as if you had ten thousand years to throw away. Death stands at your elbow. Be good for something while you live and it is in your power.” – Marcus Aurelius
We are all given one shot in this game. One opportunity each day to live, love, and appreciate the time you have. Every morning is chance to re-calibrate and focus on your mission in life.
Am I going to do what it takes to bring me closer to fulfilling my purpose today?
When your time is up – will you be haunted by the ghosts of regret? The places you never went, the things you never saw, the risks you never took because you thought you needed more time.
Or will you die knowing that you took advantage of your time here?
Wake up with a sense of urgency, wake up with a calling to conquer. Your family, your town, and your country are in a need of a person of action not someone who wastes their life away staring in their phone.
After all, we all woke up one day closer to death.
